Goddamnit, Facebook! Stop Tone policing me!
For the past several years I have enjoyed the social media platform of Facebook for several reasons. Same as you all, I like sharing pictures, and status updates of my life with friends. As an author, the platform is very useful for sharing my books and various other projects I have in the works with potential buyers. Yet, I have been kicked off Facebook, repeatedly, for fighting against bigots, racists, transphobes, homophobes, and other poisonous wretches floating around in the ether.
Literally, I am up to 30 day suspensions for calling people out on their racism by turning the tables on them and calling them, “White Trash,” etc. Sure, I get that offends people. I get that that gets reported, but I find it kind of funny the amount of white supremacy microaggressions and blatantly racist bullshit that I catch, to say nothing for what people of color get to witness on a daily basis if someone of color get’s a spot in an article posted online.
It’s outrageous. Not just Facebook pulling the posts, it’s outrageous that in the heat of the moment that somehow I have to check myself when I see something that ridiculous. Because it is. It is ridiculous. we are about to be 21 years into the 21st century and thanks to the ignorant and proudly uneducated populace in this country, mainly white people, we’re still trying to pretend like it’s 1960.
Through the past 10 years, starting during the Obama Administration, I’ve been witness to the deaths and violation of rights of people of color all over social media and on the news. It has beamed this shit right into my home, on my PC, on my laptop, my cellphone and you can’t turn away. There’s no where to go. Just like Covid-19, it’s widespread, and merciless, and inhumane, and devastating not only to the people who are the targets, but for people who have a conscience.

Oh? For the past six years, Facebook undermined our democracy by letting foreign actors buy ads to spread false information to the American Populace which, in a large way, heightened the racial divisions in this country. Russia targeted racists against people of color of all walks of life and that orange fuck we call a president, encouraged it.
No, Facebook, you don’t want your platform to be ‘a friendly environment for everyone.’
You just got busted by the government and now you’re trying to stuff the genie back into the bottle that you helped uncork. You made money off unleashing the kraken, as it were, tearing the barn door off, letting the nuts out of the nut house, letting the white trash out of the trailer park, whatever euphemism you need — take your pick.
And now you’re going to tone check me? Fuck you and your 30 day suspension. I hope congress does manage to split you up.
