Honey, I think he's scared. Men -I happen to be one - we've been socially engineered to bottle up our emotions. Especially emotions considered 'negative' or 'bad', such as sadness or fear.
It's not manly blah blah...you've heard this, I'm sure.
I think your man is afraid. I think he's afraid that things aren't ever going to be 'the same', or go back to normal. Maybe he's afraid that he can't provide what that child needs. Maybe he's scared of what all that entails.
You cannot take the child from him, you must make him hold his kid, change a diaper, bath them. You must.
If this problem persists, I would recommend a therapist for dad.
